GMTTA GROUP SKI TRIP
Welcome to our social ski trip! Perfect for solos and couples to hit the mountains at a lower cost and meet like minded individuals.
We are so passionate about the mountains and we want to share that with as many people as possible. We know that skiing isn’t cheap, we aren’t going to try and pretend that it is (of course, we have the tips to lower prices!). Even less so when there’s just 1 or 2 of you. We see so many people trying to get out on trips, that we feel there’s a great opportunity to match some of you guys up with other like minded people in the same situation. So this season, we’re trialling our first ever GMTTA Group Trip! 11th – 18th April we will be taking on Val Thorens!
GMTTA Group Ski Trip
What's going on?
You’ll be heading to Les Balcons de Val Thorens to enjoy their great value chalet-style apartments, where we currently have 10 bedrooms available over 2 apartments (7 in one apartment and 4 in the other). Each apartment comes with a fully functioning kitchenette, dining table and lounge area so it’s super easy to chill out together in the evenings with a beer and some cards. These apartments aren’t the cheapest sizes that the residence offers, but they are the largest m² of their sizes, with lots of twin beds and a bath/shower room and toilet per bedroom (not necessarily en-suite but can be allocated per bedroom). Each apartment has its own ski locker and the residence is well placed next to the slopes so you can pop your kit on, ski out of a blue track onto a blue piste and be on your way! The ski back is largely a blue run (actually the run back from the Folie Douce), with the last 100m or so being quite a steep red which can get quite cut up by the end of the day. It’s still easy enough to walk/edge/side step/bumslide down that last bit. Alternatively, the free resort shuttle bus stops directly outside the residence, so just hop on the shuttle (we do this far more than we should if we can’t be bothered to do another run to get back).
We are able to offer your trip on a self-catered basis (maybe a group of you decide to cook for each other each night! Fajita night, pasta night, burger night etc. We do also know some great restaurants within the resort that we could book a group into), or with catering - B&B, dinners only or half-board. Your meals would be served in the on-site restaurant at the residence.
Your stay will include access to the amazing extra facilities at Les Balcons de Val Thorens. These are a real high-point of this residence (we’ve spent more time waving at skiers on the lift whilst in the pool, than we’d like to admit…). There is an indoor swimming pool, hot tubs and saunas, and you can also book additional spa treatments. This is a real perk to relax after a long days skiing or to even use during the day if you just aren’t feeling skiing!

We are sure the 11th April date may be causing some of you a bit of anxiety, we appreciate that. Val Thorens is the highest resort in Europe sitting at around 2300m. The 3 valleys ski area then goes up to heights of around 3200m so you really are giving yourself the best chances with the snow conditions. We’ve been here in mid April on a particularly hot year before and the snow was still managing really well. A little compact first thing but then softening up nicely throughout the day, slushing up by the end of the day. In the last couple of seasons, we’ve actually seen some of our biggest dumps of snow in April!
We will always try and put people of the same sex as sharing a room, but if you are happy to share with anyone, please do let us know as this could be very helpful to manage.
One of our staff members will be coming out on the trip (for at least Sat – Weds), to help settle you into the accommodation, get your lift pass and ski hire sorted and to help bring the group together. Don’t worry, there’ll be no awkward ice breaker games or going round a circle to introduce yourself, but there will 100% be a pack of cards and some games brought out. A Facebook group will be set up beforehand which we can add you to if you want to get to say hello to each other before you head out, share any tips, ask any questions. If you don’t want to be in it, absolutely not a problem! The staff member is there to keep things fun, not to babysit, so if you want to do your own thing, feel free. Want to ski together in the day? Great, lets go! Want to go and hit the park on your own? Not a problem, we’ll see you later.
We have 10 bedrooms currently available, so we could accommodate 20 people on this group. We appreciate that there may be some people who do not want to share a bedroom with someone else, so we do have the option of having a bedroom to yourself. This does come at an increased cost as you are covering the full cost of the bedroom to yourself. If there are more people interested in attending the trip, we can look at adding more apartments as necessary but initially, it will be 10 bedrooms.

The bit you’re most interested in we’re sure, the prices. We are offering:
A solo room at £1299pp self-catered or £1595pp half-board – deposits of £415pp
A 2 person room (whether that’s a couple or sharing with another solo) at £890pp self-catered and £1185pp half-board – deposits of £255pp
Payment is via bank transfer or online payment link (debit or credit cards, not AMEX).
Our base prices will include:
Return shared transfers from Geneva airport to resort.
These will be a central point in resort which is around a 10-15 minute walk away from the residence but you can just jump on the free resort shuttle bus which stops directly outside the residence. This runs around 8:30 – 22:00 on Saturdays.
The shared transfers are at set times throughout the day and we will automatically allocate you to the most appropriately timed bus (allowing at least 1 hour 20 from scheduled landing time to scheduled bus departure time). You must land before 19:30 and take off after 09:30 for us to be able to get you on a shared transfer. We have the estimated timetables available now so let us know what time flights you’re looking at and we can tell you what time bus you’d be looking at.
7 nights of accommodation
Again, this can be with or without catering.
Your tourist tax isn’t included and will need to be paid on arrival to the accommodation. A security deposit will also be paid to the residence on arrival.
Bed and bath linen is included as well as end of stay cleaning (except bins which must be emptied before departure and the kitchen area. The apartment should still be left in a clean and tidy condition).
6 day Val Thorens lift pass
This gives you access to around 150km of pistes.
The full 3 valleys ski area expands this to 300km and gives you the chance to ski over in Meribel, Les Menuires, Courchevel. This upgrade is £55pp.
6 day economy skis, boots and poles
This is the base level of ski hire and the most economical, great for trying to keep the prices down. There are a number of upgrade options available, and we’ve outlined the prices below. Please do note that the base level of snowboard hire is higher than the base level of ski hire so any snowboarders do need to do an automatic upgrade.
We’ve created a handy guide with more information on our ski hire here.
- To upgrade to the next level of hire, Evolution skis, boots and poles (or snowboard and boots) = +£25pp - This is the lowest available level for snowboarders, so any snowboarders need to add £25pp to their base price as a minimum
- To upgrade to Performance skis, boots and poles (or snowboard and boots) = +£40pp
- To upgrade to Excellence skis, boots and poles (or snowboard and boots) = +£60pp
- Anyone that doesn’t need to hire boots, can take £10pp off these prices
- Anyone that doesn’t need hire can take off £50pp
- Helmets can be added for £20pp
We are here to completely cater the trip to what you need. Want to ski the 3 valleys? Lets upgrade your lift pass. Got your own skis? We’ll remove your hire. The end holiday price will be specific to what you need.

The bookings are live for this trip now!
We are running this on a phased deposit system. To register your desire to go on the trip, we need at initial £100pp deposit. This is on a first come, first served basis. This lets us know that you want to go on the trip. There is a cut off date for registering your interest is 17:30 on 2nd February 2026 but if the places fill before this, we will close it early. Please do still let us know that you’re interested in coming as we have the option to add on apartments if there is enough interest.
At the cut off point, if all places are filled, we will require the rest of your deposit by 17:00 on 5th February 2026. If all places haven’t been filled it can change the pricing (we’ll do everything we can to ensure that doesn’t happen). We will look at the pricing and let you know if it is having to change. If at that point, you don’t wish to proceed, we’ll refund you.
Once booked on, your remaining balance is due 8 weeks before departure on 14th February 2026.
This is an initial “trial” trip so we can see how interest goes and logistically how it works out, but assuming this trip is a roaring success (which we certainly expect it to be!), next season we are hoping to run a number of these trips on different dates throughout the season from Dec through to April.
