Get me to the Alps - Our Story
When people ask what Get me to the Alps is all about, the short answer is simple: we make ski holidays smooth, memorable, and affordable. But the longer answer - the one we love to tell - is a story about how one man’s passion for skiing, combined with a drive to do things differently, grew into a business that has helped thousands of people get away to the mountains.
How it all started
Our founder, Andy Worthington, or Worthy to most, grew up with a love of skiing. He wasn’t someone who came into the industry by accident - skiing was always part of his life. Over the years, Andy spent countless trips exploring the French Alps, learning the ins and outs of different resorts, and experiencing the good, the bad, and the occasionally stressful sides of organising a ski holiday.
Like many people, Andy found that booking a ski trip could be a real headache. He’d seen friends and families put off skiing altogether because of how complex it seemed - juggling flights, accommodation, lift passes, transfers, ski hire, lessons, and so much more. At the same time, the options available through traditional travel companies often felt restrictive, expensive, and, frankly, not very personal.
With a background in business and a natural flair for problem solving, Andy spotted a gap: what if there was a ski travel company that actually worked in the customer’s favour? One that cut through the noise, offered the best value possible, and provided a level of service that felt personal rather than corporate?
That’s exactly how Get me to the Alps was born. Starting out small, Andy built the business with the idea that every single customer should feel looked after - and that organising a ski holiday should be exciting, not stressful.

Why skiing is our passion
For us, skiing isn’t just a product we sell - it’s something we genuinely love. There’s nothing quite like stepping off a lift at the top of a mountain, feeling the crisp Alpine air, and knowing you’ve got miles of runs ahead of you. It’s that mixture of adrenaline, freedom, and sheer beauty that keeps us going back year after year.
And that’s part of what makes us different: because we ski ourselves, we know what matters on a holiday. We know the excitement of finding fresh powder, the simple joy of tucking into warm pastries from the village bakery in the morning, the thrill of dancing on tables at lively après-ski bars, and the unbeatable pleasure of indulging in cheese, cheese, and more cheese - always best enjoyed with a glass of fine French wine. All of those details shape the way we put our packages together.
The resorts we love
While we offer ski holidays across the Alps, it’s fair to say that France is our bread and butter. The French Alps have some of the best and most varied skiing in the world, and we’ve built fantastic relationships with resorts and accommodation providers there.
Here are just a few of the resorts we know inside out:
Val Thorens - Sitting in legendary famous Three Valleys ski area, Val Thorens is Europe’s highest ski resort and one of our absolute favourites. It offers incredible snow reliability, a huge variety of runs, and a buzzing après-ski scene. Whether you’re a seasoned skier or a beginner, it’s a resort that really delivers.
Avoriaz - A car free resort with striking wooden architecture and ski-in/ski-out accommodation, Avoriaz is as charming as it is practical. It’s part of the vast Portes du Soleil ski area, which means you can ski across the border into Switzerland. It’s a fantastic choice for families, with plenty of activities for children and a relaxed atmosphere.
Les Arcs - Known for its wide open slopes and excellent variety, Les Arcs is ideal for groups with mixed abilities. With multiple villages at different altitudes, it offers a great blend of convenience and atmosphere. Plus, it’s linked to La Plagne via the Vanoise Express cable car, creating the huge Paradiski area.
La Plagne - Another of our most popular destinations, La Plagne is perfect for families and first-timers, but it also has enough challenging terrain to keep advanced skiers happy. Its villages range from traditional Alpine charm to purpose built convenience, so there’s something for everyone.
Tignes & Val d’Isère - Together, these two resorts create one of the world’s most famous ski areas. Known for their high altitude skiing, lively nightlife, glacier skiing, they’re a must for anyone who wants a mix of serious skiing and serious fun.
Les Deux Alpes - Famous for its glacier and lively après-ski, Les Deux Alpes offers fantastic value and snow-sure conditions. It’s especially popular with younger skiers and groups of friends.
Of course, we also work with other resorts across France, Andorra and Bulgaria. But those French classics are where we’ve built some of our strongest expertise and relationships. Because we know the resorts so well, we’re able to guide our customers toward the best options for their needs, whether that’s a family friendly apartment right by the lifts, or a luxury chalet with all the trimmings.
