Chalet Altitude Val Thorens

The 5* Chalet Altitude Val Thorens residence offers spacious, cosy, self catering apartments located ideally 150m from the slopes. Guests will love the stone fireplaces to warm the bones after a long day on the slopes, as well as the fantastic views over the resort that can be seen from the balconies.

 

The ever popular resort of Val Thorens is part of the largest ski area in the world and is by far our most popular resort. Chalet Altitude offers the perfect base to enjoy all this fantastic resort has to offer.

 

A highlight of this residence is the onsite swimming pool which guests will have free access to, there's also a sauna. There's a friendly pub just down the road, the Red Fox, which is open daily from 4pm to 2am.

 

Residence Chalet Altitude Val Thorens Catering/Board

Residence Chalet Altitude Val Thorens is a self catering residence and all the apartments have fully functional kitchens to make your stay as easy as possible. The kitchens have the following - dishwasher, microwave, cooker with oven and ceramic hob, fridge-freezer, toaster, filter and Nespresso coffee machines. Staying self catering works great for those on a budget, families with fussy kids or those with allergies. There are supermarkets located close by for groceries.

 

For those that do not want to cook during their holiday, we have also teamed up with local restaurants to be able to offer this accommodation half-board, dinners only or B&B.

 

This would include continental buffet breakfasts, with breads, pastries, eggs, meats and cheese, juices and hot drinks, would be served in Johns Scandinavian which is around a 8 minute walk/short free shuttle bus ride from the residence. For your 3-course evening meals, you have the choice of eating in Johns Scandinavian or Johns American (approx. 14 mins away). This is a great way to try different food options throughout the week.

 

The residence does offer a bakery service, you can order fresh croissants and bread at the reception for the following morning. They would be delivered to your apartment.

What time can we check in/out at Chalet Altitude Val Thorens?

You can check in from 5pm and check out is at 10am. It's always worth going to the reception when you arrive to see whether the apartment is ready. They have a luggage storage room where you can leave your bags.

Will we have to pay anything on arrival?

You will need to pay your tourist tax directly to the residence, this is €3.30 per person per day (+18). You will also have to pay a refundable damage deposit, this is €500 per apartment. This will be held until your apartment has been checked at the end of your stay. This can be paid by credit card (American Express is not accepted) at the reception when you check in. The funds are pre-authorised which means they are not taken off your card, but the amount will not be available to spend.

What is the reception number?

What are the reception opening times?

The reception is open from 8.00am to 12pm and 4pm-7pm (Sunday to Friday) and 8am to 8pm on Saturdays. The reception is at residence Chalet Val 2400, which is next door.

What is the late arrival process?

If you are going to be arriving after 6pm, you must contact the reception in advance of the day of your arrival to find out the late check in procedure. They will explain how to collect your keys.

Are there ski lockers?

Yes, there are ski lockers with boot dryers designated per room.

Is there somewhere to store luggage?

Yes, there is a luggage room for storing bags.

How many apartments are there Chalet Altitude Val Thorens?

There are 20 cosy apartments that make up the residence.

Can I request a nice view?

Up to 15 days before travel, let us know if you have a preferred view, orientation, floor, building, or distance from reception, so we can inform the residence of your preferences. Subject to availability, we cannot guarantee that requests will be fulfilled but we will always ask for you.

Will toilet roll be provided?

An initial supply will be, after that you will need to purchase them. There are shops nearby.

Are there hairdryers and irons?

Yes, there will be a hairdryer in the room. Ask for an iron at the reception.

Will bed linen and towels be provided?

Yes, bed linen is provided and beds are made on arrival. Sofa beds are not made on arrival. Bathroom towels (1 large and 1 small per person) are also provided with one change mid stay.

Will we have to clean our apartment at Chalet Altitude Val Thorens?

End of stay cleaning is included except for the kitchen, dishes, the balcony and bins. A cleaning kit (dishcloth and sponge, 2 dishwasher tablets, washing up liquid, a bottle of cleaning product) is also provided.

Is there Wi-Fi and is there a cost for this?

Yes, you would have free Wi-Fi access in the apartment.

Is the relaxation area free and what are the opening times?

You have free and unlimited access to the indoor heated swimming pool and sauna. The relaxation area is open from 10am to 8pm every day aside from Saturdays.

Is this residence suitable for someone who is disabled?

Please contact us in advance of booking and we will advise. There is disabled access in certain room types.

Is there a car park?

Yes, there is a covered car park. This is from €80 per week per car and subject to availability. Please let us know early if you require a car parking space. The is a height restriction of 2.10m.

Is this residence good for kids/families?

Yes, kids will love the swimming pool!

Can I bring my pets?

Pets are welcome at the residence, they would be €75 per week. Please advise the reception well in advance if you intend to bring your pet.

Is food included, are there any restaurants/shops nearby?

This is a self catering residence and all the apartments come with functional kitchens. For those wanting to eat out there are plenty of restaurants in the resort. A bakery service is available at the reception, you can get bread and pastries delivered to your apartments in the mornings.

Is there a resort shuttle bus and will I need to use it?

There is a free shuttle bus that you can use to get around Val Thorens.

Is Chalet Altitude ski in / ski out?

The residence is located 150m from the slopes, so it is a great location. You can ski in if you are an intermediate level skier.

Is wood provided for the fireplaces?

One bag of wood is provided, additional bags of wood would be €7.
