What are the Package Travel Regulations?
Nearly everyone who books a ski holiday with Get me to the Alps is covered by The Package Travel and Linked Travel Arrangements Regulations 2018.
When you book with Get me to the Alps you will automatically be covered under the regulations if you booked a Multi-Contract Package.
99% of our holidays are classed as Multi-Contract Packages as most people book several elements of their holiday with us (e.g Accommodation, transfers and lift passes)
A “Multi-Contract Package” exists if you book a combination of at least two different types of the following individual travel services, for the purpose of the same trip or holiday:
a) transport; or
b) accommodation; or
c) rental of cars, motor vehicles or motorcycles (in certain circumstances); and
d) any other tourist service not intrinsically part of one of the above travel services,
provided that those travel services are purchased together from a single visit to our website and selected by you before you agree to pay; or are advertised, sold or charged at an inclusive or total price; or advertised or sold under the term “package” or a similar term.
This is called a Multi-Contract Package as you still have contracts with each of the individual Supplier/Principals providing the Travel Arrangements, however, we, Get me to the Alps, will accept responsibility for this booking as a Package Organiser.
You will have legal and financial protection when booking a Multi-Contract Package through Get me to the Alps, this includes
Financial protection
As a Package Organiser we have a legal duty to have in place full financial protection for our customers should we fail financially or if one of the suppliers of your holiday services goes bust.
We accomplish this by being members of the Travel Trust Association and operating a secure trust account where customer monies are held and only used to pay for your holiday services until you return from travel and we can take out our commissions. Should we fail financially there is a process in place that will utilise the funds in the trust account to fulfill the holiday or offer you a refund.
We also take out Supplier Failure Insurance against all the suppliers of your services, which covers you in the event of one of them going bust.
This triple financial protection really is a robust protection scheme and customers of Get me to the Alps should feel that their money and holiday is secure.
Legal Protection
Under the Package Travel Regulations, as your holiday organiser, we accept the responsibility that this entails. Full details of our obligations can be found in our terms and conditions
If you book everything directly with the suppliers yourself then you won't get the legal and financial protection that you would receive by booking a Multi-Contract Package with Get me to the Alps.
It should also be cheaper to book the same elements with us for a cheaper price as we get commissions and use these to discount the price for you. You then get all these extra protections for a cheaper price.
One of the best financial protection measures is to operate a separate secure trust account where customer monies are held. This is a ring-fenced account that we as a company are not allowed to touch unless we prove to the trustees that the payments we are making are for your holiday services.
Your money is safe with Get me to the Alps.
