Ski Holidays in Les Carroz

Ski holidays in Les Carroz remain a popular choice for family ski holidays, and with good reason! Nestled in the Haute Savoie region with ideally only a 1 - 1.5 hours drive time from Geneva airport (traffic depending), and has a vast array of beginner and intermediate runs making it perfect for families and big groups of mixed ability.

Les Carroz sits at a height of 1140m with lifts reaching grand heights of 2561m. As part of the Grand Massif ski area (one of the biggest linked ski areas in France) you have over 265km of groomed pistes to explore including the neighbouring villages of Flaine, Les Morillon, Samoëns and Sixt.

Skiing In Les Carroz

In the Grand Massif area there are over 265km of pistes which are utilised by 75 lifts. There are also some beginner lifts at the bottom of the mountain which are free to use, so total beginners won’t even need to buy a ski pass for the first day or so. Once you are ready to hit the big lifts though, you will find an abundance of easy pistes, some that run all the way from the top of the mountain. It goes without saying that you don’t have to be a pro to enjoy all that skiing that Les Carroz and the Grand Massif has to offer.

However, skiing in Les Carroz has something for everybody. If you are an intermediate or advanced skier then the huge range of cruising red runs, mogul fields and even the super taxing black runs such as Diamond Noir are sure to keep you occupied all week long.

If it’s tree runs you are after then try the wooded run that goes all the way down into the village of Samoens, or simply head off-piste into the forests and duck some branches. If you want to hit the boarder park, or perhaps try racing down the Stade red run, then head for the Aujon lift and have a go.

Apres Ski In Les Carroz

Being more of a family orientated resort, the apres ski in Les Carroz is not a huge focus. However, there are a few bars in the resort, with Carpe Diem open until late with cocktails and karaoke.

But if, like many others, you are here with the family and not out for a party, there's plenty of lovely restaurants in Les Carroz to eat out at. There's also plenty of other activities to get involved in, be it ice skating at the ice rink, dog sledding with the huskies, the Alpine "roller" Coaster, Snake sledging down the piste, snowmobiling, paragliding or helicopter flights amongst other things.

Transfers to Les Carroz

Shared Airport Transfers from Geneva airport are great value and are almost certainly the cheapest way of getting from the airport to Les Carroz.

Alternatively, private transfers are an option, they tend to be more expensive but you get a door to door service and there's no waiting around at the airport. For groups of 8 (which is the sweet spot for minibus transfers) it wouldn't be too different in price to shared.
