The best ski resorts for nightlife

Of course, skiing and snowboarding are probably the biggest features when it comes to a ski holiday, but we all know that the après and nightlife make the whole trip a true experience! Here at Get me to the Alps, we know that for some people, the nightlife can be as important as, if not even more important than the mountain time! Whether it’s trying to dance on tables in your ski boots or listening to some live music at a bar in the evening, if you’re looking for a good time, these are our best ski resorts for nightlife!

Val Thorens

Val Thorens is a bit of a Jack of all trades resort! With quieter areas of the resort perfect for families, it also features a vibrant night scene! There are plenty of options both on and off the mountain to enjoy. For those who enjoy a daytime session, head to the infamous La Folie Douce (one of our bestselling residences Les Balcons de Val Thorens actually sits on the run back from here, making it the perfect accommodation for those who enjoy an après session). Holding the title of highest open-air club in Europe, the party starts in the afternoon with the perfect combination of excellent drinks, food, tunes and cabaret for your après needs.

Further down the mountain, just a 5-minute walk from Residence Val Chaviere, we have Le Saloon Bar which is a great stop off for a refreshment on your way down. There’s also the Frog & Roast Beef pub, a great example of French meet British. Later on, head over to Le Malaysia for live music, right into the early hours.

Val d’Isere

Another hotspot and firm favourite, Val d’Isere has a lively nightlife with a mix of bars, pubs and nightclubs, featuring a lot of British run options with live music.

Home to the original Folie Douce, starting your afternoon apres you can either ski back down or if you’re feeling a bit merry it’s perfectly located at the top of the La Daille gondola. A perfect option if you’re staying at Residence La Daille! Once you’re down it’s definitely worth checking Cocorico out. Wind down with a few pints listening to the live music they have, and then wait for the party to really kick off in the evening. You’ll be sure to make plenty of memories here! Cocorico also has a branch in Tignes too.

Pas de la Casa

We’ve touched on it previously here, but Andorra is a fantastic country for those keeping an eye on their budget and this also extends to the nightlife, with a pint of beer being significantly cheaper than most French ski resorts. Pas de la Casa is known for being cheap and cheerful and is probably Andorras wildest party town.

Up the mountain (don’t forget Pas de la Casa is the highest resort in Andorra), we love Coll Blanc and it’s panoramic views and the fact it looks like a giant spaceship on the mountain! The restaurant here serves great food, but come 4pm, with the help of DJs it turns into a very lively apres bar! You’ll be dancing on the terrace, or you can head onto the snow to take it a bit more relaxed. At closing time ski/board back down the mountain embracing the views of Pas de la Casa.

A must in Pas de la Casa is Paddys. Great food, great après and a perfect place to watch any live football games too.

Bansko

Bansko is another great place to go if you’re looking to keep prices down but don’t want to sacrifice on your night life. Starting with a slightly more expensive (in Bulgaria terms) option, we recommend The Happy End. With the feel of an Austrian apres bar, it’s worth going to experience the atmosphere.

Popular with a lot of Brits is The Lions Pub, a lovely spot to relax with a pint after a long on the slopes and a great place to meet people.

Les Deux Alpes

Les Deux Alpes is full of pubs and bars with live music, as well as having more lively apres-ski. Up the mountain, near the Jandri mid-station, you’ll find The Pano Bar. With DJs pumping the tunes and lots of different entertainment to add to the experience, it’s great for those big into their apres. In the village Smokey Joes is great for a lively apres scene. With craft beers from a local microbrewery and live music most days through the week, there’s also plenty of indoor space it’s great for bad weather days. If you’re wanting a more relaxed night, check out Red Frog which is popular with the Brits. It’s also well located for Multi Residences 1650.

At Get me to the Alps, we’ve spent a lot of times in resort so we have a strong knowledge of the mountains and the towns themselves. This enables us to help you make the right decision on where to stay. Check out the resort pages on our website for lots of useful information.
